The Augustin Alliance is a multi-region network founded on July 22, 2016, by August. Established to promote cooperation, the exchange of ideas, and free trade, the Alliance brings together regions with distinct themes, purposes, and cultural identities, all united by shared values and their common founder. Over the years, the Alliance has evolved, with sovereignty extending currently to the regions of Conch Kingdom, Lands End, Cape of Good Hope, Ridgefield, Anteria, Dawn, and Narnia.
On October 27, 2023, Emiline, who had served as the second-in-command and de-facto leader since 2019, formally obtained mechanical control over all Alliance regions. This transition marked the transfer of supreme authority from August to Emiline, effectively ushering in the current generation of the Augustin Alliance's iteration.
History
The Augustin Alliance traces its origins to January 2016, when August drafted an early version of its structure and a long-term plan for the organization. The vision included the creation of multiple regions, each with its own distinct identity. The first of these regions, the Cape of Good Hope, was established shortly after August's return from an extended period of inactivity. Commonly referred to as "the Cape," this region initially lacked a clear structure or direction. However, within its first month, a small but vibrant roleplay community emerged, largely inspired by the contributions of the region's first resident, Coadun. This community would come to define the Cape's identity in the years to follow.
In late February 2016, the second region, Conch Kingdom, was launched. Unlike the Cape, Conch Kingdom was meticulously planned from the outset. Within minutes of its founding, it boasted a functional forum, a well-crafted World Factbook Entry (WFE), and a welcoming telegram for new members. Manual recruitment efforts began immediately and proved highly successful. Designed as a "big-tent" region, Conch Kingdom utilized a tropical theme and a high degree of political freedom to attract a broad audience. This strategy paid off, as the region welcomed its 100th nation within a month of its founding, with the 200th nation joining by April 2016.
The launches of subsequent Alliance regions were strategically staggered over the next year and a half, allowing each region time to develop and establish itself before the next was introduced. During this period, the Cape of Good Hope and Conch Kingdom grew both internally and externally. They established political frameworks, expanded their communities, and began engaging with the broader world through embassies and military initiatives. In June 2016, the Conch Kingdom Naval Reserve and the Cape Defense Force were formed. While these military organizations were relatively modest in scale, they played a crucial role in building alliances and providing training for emerging leaders within their respective regions.
The Alliance as a unified entity officially began on July 22, 2016, when an announcement was made on the Regional Message Boards (RMBs) of both the Cape of Good Hope and Conch Kingdom. This announcement revealed that August was the founder of both regions and declared them the first member regions of the Alliance. Following this revelation, the construction of embassies between the two regions commenced. Shortly thereafter, in September 2016, Helaw created a Discord server for Conch Kingdom, which was later expanded to serve the entire Alliance. This marked a significant step in fostering communication and collaboration among Alliance members, laying the groundwork for the organization's future growth and cohesion.
The Alliance's military capabilities were further consolidated with the founding of the Joint Task Force (JTF), which merged the forces of Conch Kingdom and the Cape of Good Hope into an advanced, update-capable independent military. The JTF gained valuable experience during a weeks-long siege of the region Femdom Empire, which ultimately failed but allowed Alliance forces to forge strong relationships with defender organizations.
In January 2017, August successfully recaptured Ridgefield, a region he had originally founded in October 2010 but had lost to a region-squatter. Ridgefield was reestablished with a unique meritocratic government system, featuring strict quality regulations and mandatory World Assembly membership. Later that year, Land's End was officially launched after being planned since March 2016. Its capitalist structure, resembling a publicly-traded corporation, filled a niche in a market dominated by liberal democracies and communist regimes. Land's End quickly became a strong contributor to the Alliance, driving Discord traffic and deploying nations with the JTF.
The Alliance gained international recognition during the April Fools 2017 nuclear war event, where its coordinated efforts led to a surprising victory. This success was followed by the addition of Narnia in June 2017, a region with a unique internal faction-based system. However, on August 13, 2017, the Alliance was temporarily shut down to allow leadership, particularly August, a break and to test the regions' ability to operate independently. Despite the shutdown, the regions continued to function, and the Alliance was briefly revived during a second nuclear war event later that year, securing another victory.
In May 2018, the Alliance was officially revived, and the Central Strategic Committee (CSC) was established to oversee its operations. The CSC, composed of high-ranking officials, provided guidance and support to member regions while maintaining a hands-off approach to regional governance. Despite setbacks, including a record-low score in the 2018 NDay event, the Alliance achieved a third-place finish in 2019.
August's inactivity in early 2019 led to a period of uncertainty, but the appointment of Emiline (commonly known as "Emi") as co-administrator in September 2019 provided stability. Emi played a key role in maintaining the Alliance's operations, particularly during a failed referendum in Conch Kingdom that sought to withdraw from the Alliance.
In 2020, the Alliance faced external challenges and internal governance complexities due to August's reduced involvement. Despite these difficulties, the Alliance secured a first-place victory in the NDay event, marking a triumphant return to form. Following this success, the Alliance retired from NDay, and in December 2020, DiRito, the sole administrator at the time, retired, leaving Emi as the de-facto leader. In June 2021, August appointed Cle brait as the second Administrator of the Alliance, marking what would likely be his final executive act as leader. August withdrew from NationStates in October 2021, leaving the Alliance under the stewardship of Emi and Cle brait.
In February 2023, the Augustin Alliance began a gradual integration process with Anteria, a region established in 2015. Anteria was originally founded by Emiline outside the Alliance, prior to the Alliance's existence, and had developed into a thriving community with its own unique identity. Over the preceding six years, Anteria had maintained a close and mutually beneficial relationship with the Alliance, characterized by significant cross-membership and collaboration between their respective communities. When Emiline assumed de-facto leadership of the Alliance in 2019, it became increasingly logical to consolidate her holdings, leading to the decision to formally integrate Anteria into the Alliance.
The period from 2021 to 2023 proved challenging for the Augustin Alliance. August's prolonged absence left the organization without mechanical onsite control, relying on outdated systems and infrastructure that were no longer fully accessible. This precarious situation necessitated a difficult but necessary transition to secure the Alliance's future. On October 27, 2023, a significant leadership transition took place. Emiline, who had served as the second-in-command and de-facto leader since 2019, formally obtained mechanical control over all Alliance regions. This transfer of supreme authority from August to Emiline marked the beginning of the second generation of the Augustin Alliance, signaling a new era of governance and direction for the organization.
Overarching Policy
While the regions of the Augustin Alliance operate as autonomous entities, each maintaining control over its own laws, customs, and infrastructure, they are bound by a set of overarching policies established by the Alliance. These policies, which were integrated on January 28, 2021, ensure a unified framework for conduct, governance, and operational standards across all member regions. Compliance with these guidelines is mandatory and covers areas such as regional conduct, adherence to shared rules, maintenance of essential infrastructure, and respect for the hierarchical structure of the Alliance.
Organization
Central Strategic Committee
The Central Strategic Committee (CSC) serves as a supra-governmental body within the Augustin Alliance, providing guidance, support, and regulation to its member regions, as well as its military and diplomatic branches. The highest-ranking officials of the CSC include the Allied Commander, who holds absolute discretionary authority over all aspects of the Alliance, and the Administrator(s), who wield similar powers. The remainder of the CSC is composed of CSC Officers, who form a collective and consensual council. These officers do not hold authority over one another and operate as equals.
Collectively, the CSC is responsible for setting overarching policies for the Alliance, imposing sanctions on regions or individuals when necessary, and developing and implementing initiatives aimed at improving the organization. While the CSC plays a central role in maintaining the Alliance's cohesion and standards, it does not directly interfere with regional laws, governmental procedures, or military operations and strategy—unless these conflict with established Alliance policies. This structure ensures that member regions retain their autonomy while adhering to the shared principles and frameworks that define the Alliance as a whole.
- The Allied Commander is the head of Alliance and is Governor of all member regions. The Allied Commander is absolute and has full discretionary power over all aspects of the Augustin Alliance and its subsidiaries. The current Allied Commander is Emiline.

Tribunes
The Tribunes are a unique body within the Augustin Alliance, fulfilling roles that blend the functions of ombudsman, librarians, and Roman-style tribunes. Elected by the populace, the Tribunes serve as a bridge between the Central Strategic Committee and the general membership, ensuring greater involvement and direct engagement in Alliance affairs. Their responsibilities include advocating for member concerns, preserving and organizing regional records, and facilitating communication between the CSC and the broader community.
The current Tribunes are Moduland, Gondor, and Hooseria Magna.
The Court of Officials
While each region within the Augustin Alliance governs itself individually, the Regional Officers (ROs) of all member regions come together to form the Court of Officials. This body serves as a collective forum for providing input and consent on Alliance-wide affairs. The Court of Officials plays a key role in decision-making processes, requiring unanimous consent via vote to pass major Alliance-wide measures, such as treaties, policies, or bans. This structure ensures that all regions have a voice in shaping the Alliance's direction while maintaining their autonomy and individuality.
