The East Pacific is a Feeder region in NationStates. It was originally a User Created Region (UCR) founded by a nation called Hitler the Great and later became a Game Created Region (GCR) through admins choosing to keep the naming scheme originally instated by the creation of The Pacific, the first Feeder. The East Pacific as a region was captured by the Farkers early on in its phase as a User Created Region and was only recreated into a Feeder during their occupation of the region. As a result, the Delegate, 1 Infinite Loop, became the de facto leader of the region. He is considered to be the father of The East Pacific. Other significant names both good and bad include Todd McCloud, A Mean Old Man, Bachtendekuppen, and Fedele.

The East Pacific is a democratic Feeder which prides itself on neutrality and refusing to take sides in foreign issues. They also possess a sense of humor and do not take the outside world all that seriously. The East Pacific has found the most pleasure across the years in a strong roleplay community and have ignored Gameplay for years during some Delegacies, preferring to pursue their own internal interests.

Government of The East Pacific

The East Pacific is governed by the laws set down by the Concordat, which can only be changed through a citizen referendum. Within the Concordat, the government is established by division into three major branches: The Magisterium (legislature), the Conclave (judiciary), and the Executive (the Delegate and their Ministers). Most of the major East Pacific positions are elected, though some Executive positions remain available for appointment by the Delegate rather than through a vote by the Magisterium.

The Executive

The Executive branch of The East Pacific is led by the Delegate, supported by the Vice Delegate, and further backed by the Overseeing Officer of the military (The Eastern Pacific Sovereign Army), the Minister of Information, the Minister of Culture, the Minister of World Assembly Affairs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and several other minor departments that contribute to the region. The setup of the Executive branch involves collaboration and cooperation among the members of the Delegate's Cabinet. The Delegate is the most significant position and has the power to remake the Executive as they please, so long as the positions determined by existing laws are modified legally and with the cooperation of the Magisterium.

The Conclave[1]

The Conclave consists of four Arbiters, one of whom is chosen from within to be the Viceroy, or leader of the Conclave. The Viceroy becomes responsible for several important duties after appointment, most important of all those duties being the oversight of the Delegate elections. The Conclave is also tasked with security regarding citizenship, judicial rulings on the legality of proposed laws and existing situations, and presiding over trials brought before them by the Delegate or Viziers. They may also issue formal opinions on issues brought to them for review.

The Magisterium[2]

The Magisterium consists of the Magisters and is led by the Provost, who is elected among Magisters. The Provost is assisted by the Deputy Provost. Magisters serve as legislators and the democratic voice of implementation of laws. They discuss and debate proposed laws before motioning said law to a vote and having the Magisterium vote on such a law. A majority vote determines the implementation of the law. The Magisterium will also vote on Executive privileges such as treaties that have been negotiated by the Foreign Affairs department and the Delegate. Magisters can be removed by the Conclave.

History of The East Pacific

The East Pacific, as is aforementioned, began as a User Created Region founded by the improbably named "Hitler the Great". In this time, regions were not automatically assigned a Founder despite a player founding that region, which left all regions open to invasion. 1 Infinite Loop was notorious for purging every nation that posed a threat to his reign. He nonetheless concluded his delegacy by establishing a functional region that operated as a democracy despite his autocratic methods of taking control of the region. The East Pacific progressed peacefully after 1 Infinite Loop's term for years.

In 2008, The East Pacific's continuity was interrupted by a coup orchestrated by a group called Empire. They overthrew the inactive sitting Delegate, Gnidrah, and Lady Phedre assumed the seat. The group, which remains notorious to the present day, consisted of Lady Phedre (Minineenee), Lady Anastasia (Dalimbar), Lord Rahl (Biyah), and Neo Kervoskia. They held the region for eight months. Two different accounts claim that the conclusion of the coup was either a result of Empire being overthrown by regional hero A Slanted Black Stripe and his allies, or that Empire elected to leave on their own terms. The result of the end of the coup was a constitutional convention which established most of the structure of the region that still exists today.

Shortly after the constitutional convention, in 2009 a new figure who would become integral to the history of The East Pacific rose to power: Todd McCloud. Todd McCloud soon came to be seen as the face of The East Pacific across his many terms as Delegate to the wider Gameplay sphere. Todd McCloud was a former raider from Fox Rite, whose excellent stewardship of The East Pacific led to the beginnings of believing that raiders could, in fact, possibly be trusted in GCRs. The next notable Delegate after Todd was A Mean Old Man. A Mean Old Man's term achieved many things, but most prominently the establishment of The East Pacific's military. The Eastern Pacific Sovereign Army later served as a valuable tool for pursuing a Foreign Affairs agenda.

The next major upheaval in The East Pacific's history was the election of Bachtendekuppen. Bachtendekuppen was the Delegate during the infamous Defender Act, which threatened to divide and disrupt the region. Due to Todd McCloud and Bachtendekuppen, the Defender Act was defeated. Ramaeus was elected after the conclusion of Bachtendekuppen's second term, and under him a far more Foreign Affairs-oriented administration reigned. It was in this situation that the Eastern Pacific Sovereign Army's existence furthered good relations between many regions. Ramaeus' first term ended in scandal, however, as Belschaft of The South Pacific enticed Todd McCloud to aid him in removing a member of The South Pacific whose existence he deemed harmful. This was called Operation Brave Little Toaster, named after a South Pacifican tradition, and was a plot to votestack the region to remove that player from power. It fell into disuse until Cormac Stark exposed its existence in late 2014 during The East Pacific's ongoing Delegate platform stage. Due to the fallout, The East Pacific's major candidates, almost all of whom were involved in the discussions, dropped out and requested a Delegate who could repair the damage. Bridges were mended with The South Pacific during that term.

The East Pacific did not again see significant troubles until Aelitia, a long-term member and previously trusted East Pacifican who had served faithfully and loyally in The East Pacific for many years as Viceroy, was elected in 2017. Aelitia's Delegacy was disrupted with rumors started by Lord Ravenclaw that he planned to coup and was importing voters. Lord Ravenclaw's influence enabled him to have Aelitia removed unjustly until the law ruled on Aelitia's side and he was able to complete his term.

One of the most disruptive and significant events in The East Pacific's history was the election of Queen Yuno to the delegacy in 2017, complete with two more terms lasting until October 2018. Queen Yuno led The East Pacific to a powerful place on the world stage and made many allies for the region, but also oversaw considerable internal chaos and harm to established region members from her new recruits. Queen Yuno's third Delegacy term ended in scandal, with Queen Yuno and many of her followers banned from the region. This led to the Delegacy of Fedele, who became a different kind of threat to the region at the end of his third term.

In October 2019, sitting Delegate Fedele was the next to coup the region. He couped during an ongoing Conclave investigation into the results of the Delegate election and after months of planning a coup that waited until his decision to leave the seat to actually occur. His coup was short, lasting only 24 hours and seen as an obvious loss before the first 12 hours had passed. His coup was opposed by powerful figures internally including former Delegates Bachtendekuppen, Todd McCloud, Aelitia, Ramaeus, Vizier East Malaysia, and the recently-elected Delegate-elect, Marrabuk. Fedele found no exterior support, abandoned by all players both internally and externally save his few co-conspirators in the region. Aelitia claimed the Delegacy at the end of Fedele's coup and helped protect the Delegacy until Marrabuk reached the requisite number of endorsements to assume the seat.
