The North Pacific is a Feeder region in NationStates. It is a strong ally of the New Pacific Order in the present day despite having historically been an enemy at multiple junctures. Originally they were tied intimately to the Alliance Defence Network's GCR chokehold and were on several occasions a battleground between defenders and members of the New Pacific Order. They are the largest real region in the game and boast the largest endorsement count. They are the second oldest democracy in the Feeders. Their diplomatic network is largely tied to the independent sphere, though they maintain friends with defenders. They were historically the most-couped Feeder until fully stabilizing in the late 2000s. The North Pacific has been a staunch advocate of democracy for its entire existence. The North has a proud roleplay scene as well, which they have spent many years developing.

History of the North Pacific

Government Structure of The North Pacific

Executive Council

  • Delegate: The Delegate is an elected official who is the head of the region. They have checks and balances to their power as a democracy, insofar as they may be challenged in the judiciary or recalled by the legislature. The Delegate presides as the head of the Executive Council. The Delegate has unilateral ability to appoint their own Executive Council positions.
  • Minister of World Assembly Affairs: The Minister of World Assembly Affairs is tasked with managing The North Pacific's prodigious World Assembly program. They direct the stance of the region in terms of voting preference and oversee the regional vote to determine whether the North will vote for or against a proposal. The Delegate may overrule the regional vote if requested by an ally, typically with the cooperation of the Minister of WA Affairs.
  • Minister of Defense: The Minister of Defense is the acting head commander of the North Pacific Army, The North Pacific's regional military. They organize operations or have the final say over a proposed operation and authorize cooperation with other regions. The Minister of Defense is an appointed position.
  • Minister of Culture: The Minister of Culture oversees cultural activities internally and externally in The North Pacific.
  • Minister of Foreign Affairs: The Minister of Foreign Affairs is a critical position that is typically held by an experienced diplomat, one which assists or lays out the ideal foreign affairs path for the Delegate. The Delegate has the final say over matters pertaining to foreign affairs.

Gameside Advocates

  • Lead Gameside Advocate: Head Moderator of the Regional Message Board, tasked with guiding conversations, reporting issues, and identifying and reporting rulebreakers to the regional officers.
  • Gameside Advocate: Regional moderator tasked with guiding conversations, reporting issues, and identifying and reporting rulebreakers to the regional officers.

Executive Advisors

  • Advisor to the Delegate: Advise the Delegate and Executive in relevant regional affairs.

Legislature

  • Speaker of the Regional Assembly: The Speaker has a dual role - they run the Regional Assembly's business, starting and closing votes and ensuring protocol is followed in such. The larger part of their job is handling citizenship applications and removals. They maintain the registered information that tracks citizens and residents, check that new applicants actually have a nation in the region, and remove current citizens and residents whose nations leave, cease to exist, or fail to post on the RMB or Forum in 30 days.
  • Deputy Speaker: Deputy Speakers assist the Speaker with their duties. One deputy can be nominated by the Speaker as their designated Acting Speaking to cover any absences the Speaker has, and they also become the Speaker if the Speaker is removed or resigned until a new election is held.

Judiciary

  • Chief Justice: The Chief Justice presides over the criminal cases presented to the Court as well as requests for review, which are a judicial review process of laws, policies and actions by other officials.
  • Associate Justice: The Associate Justices are the assisting justices who similarly will rule on cases brought to the Court.

Security Council

  • Vice Delegate: The Vice Delegate is the elected official that heads up the Security Council and succeeds the delegate if they resign or are recalled. They have Cabinet access but are not officially a Cabinet position. They furthermore carry out security assessments of those applying for citizenship and can advise against or for the acceptance of said applicants.
  • Security Councilors: The Security Council are responsible for the in-game security of the region, dealing entirely with people whose endorsement counts either breach the legally established endo cap or who look like they might. They'll contact the individual seeking for them to slow down their rise and if that proves insufficient have a number of other powers and methods, which range from asking other to unendorse them or recommending that the Vice Delegate or Delegate eject the nation
