This page contains the documentation for Template:Delete. It includes information about the template, such as usage and categories, and is not displayed when using the template itself.

This template is used to suggest a page for deletion by administrators. It can specify "speedy" deletion for a page that is unquestionably unfit for the wiki, or otherwise suggest deletion for a page that may not quite belong and link to a discussion.

Parameters

  • unnamed parameter: any additional details on the reason for adding the notice, or how the page can be improved. This is highly recommended.
  • date (required): the month and year in which you have added the notice to the page. This will determine whether the page should be added to Category:Pages with expired notices.
  • speedy: define this parameter to mark the suggestion as speedy deletion. This should only be used for things such as vandalism, off-topic, or your own userspace pages, as speedy deletion does not require a discussion.
  • talk: if the deletion discussion is taking place somewhere other than the page's talk page, enter the page name (and section tag, if applicable) in this parameter. It will automatically be made a wikilink.
  • section: define this parameter to mark only a section for deletion, not the whole page. This is rarely used; a different notice may be more appropriate.
