The FAN-WUT War was a conflict between The Initiative and the recently expelled former member the Federation of Armed Nations. At the time it was one of the longest wars fought in Cyber Nations, and later followed by the FAN-1V War.
Prelude
The lead up to the war saw relations between FAN and the members of the World Unity Treaty rapidly deteriorate.
Yellow Number 5
On May 31, 2007 FAN and GOLD announced the Yellow Number 5 Doctrine, which would protect all Yellow sphere nations from tech traders. This lead to friction between FAN and other members of the Initiative, particularly \m/ who were heavy tech raiders. In response \m/ and its White sphere allies TPF and STA announced the "Don't Pee in Our Snow Act" which specifically forbade yellow team nations from raiding the white sphere.
Around mid-June a GOONS member attacked a yellow nation that was on the "Enemy of the GOONS" list, FAN then responded by attacking the GOONS nation. On June 17 FAN announced Yellow Number 6, which cancelled the Yellow Number 5 doctrine.
Operation Overlord
On June 5 FAN launched a preemptive surprise attack on the Norden Verein, who were a NPO protectorate at the time. After communications from the Order, FAN ceased their attacks and claimed to be unaware of the protectorate status.
War Progress
June
Prior to the war commencing, NPO and GGA left the For the Love of God, Think of the Children! Convention on June 15, which was a non-nuclear aggression pact.
On June 18 FAN was officially expelled from The Initiative, with the attack on the GOONS nation under the Yellow Number 5 doctrine cited as a reason. This was then followed by declarations of war from the members of The Initiative, as well as members of the Hanseatic League, IRON and BLEU member FCO who declared war the next day.
On June 19 The Initiative forces began executing a series of preemptive nuclear strikes against FAN nations. FAN members had indicated on the CN forum that they would unleash their nuclear arsenals, while their government claimed otherwise. Emperor TrotskysRevenge had announced that members of the Order could use their nuclear weapons first.[1] FAN retaliated with over 200 nuclear strikes of their own, leading to the first significant nuclear war prior to Great War II.
July
On July 10 Admin announced that FAN had lost its sanctioned status due to damages during the war.
August
Following a brief period of internal turmoil in the NPO, the New Polar Order signed a separate peace deal with FAN on August 16 and shortly after left The Initiative.
September
At update on September 14, FAN carried out a coordinated strike against NPO members[2] in an attempt to relieve their nations that were currently fighting.
With the outbreak of the Unjust War on September 9, the GOONS, \m/ and Genmay surrendered to FAN on September 10[3] in order to remove themselves from the war to concentrate on fighting the new coalition arrayed against them. NPO, GGA and IRON remained as the major alliances fighting FAN at this time.
